The Royal Bouquet Fashion Show A Huge Success!

So, my post is a bit belated, but last Saturday the 11th, I attended my first Junior League of Cincinnati’s Fashion Show and had a fabulous time!  Hosted at the the historic Cincinnati Club,  downtown:),  the event started with a delicious sit down lunch, followed by a silent auction,  shopping with top Cincinnati vendors, and finally, a very fun and well done fashion show.  As a pretty discerning Cincinnista,  I was impressed by the quality of the fashions in the show as well as the merchandise for sale. The fashion show was also emceed by Kara Sewell,  an accomplished Fox 19 anchor and member or the Junior League herself.  Another part that was unique to this event was that it included men as well as kids in the show. One of my favorite acts, was my good friend Dave Sanders modeling a tuxedo by Ramuldo’s with a glass of champagne in his hand!  Cheers!

Why I love Main Street!

Ok fellow Cincinnista’s, a bit of a break from fashion talk.  Many of you know I moved my design firm, Amy Youngblood Interiors, to Main Street in OTR last October.  What you may not know is all of the great existing and new spots to visit on Main Street.

First of all,  Amy Youngblood Interior’s home office is a beautifully transformed space, with tons of hip character, and yes furnishings and artwork to sell!  Check out our front corner window if you are in doubt.  We also have great restaurants and bars such as Liberty’s Bar and Bottle (one block south of Liberty), Goodfella’s Pizza and soon to come Buzzed Bull Creamery.  Yes,  Buzzed Bull Creamery will be Cincinnati’s first ice cream store with adult style ice cream. Get the picture?

In addition to food and drink,  two great art galleries are a stone’s throw away from AYI.  The Brush Factory,  a niche furniture and accessory store just opened across the street from us in December as well. In to special events?  The Woodward Theatre is an beautifully restored venue to varies fundraisers and parties.

Besides these spaces,  there are countless buildings currently being renovated for up and coming businesses.  While Main street is not yet as developed as Vine,  I love being off the path of complete weekend chaos…not that we won’t be there soon!  Not to mention, our proximity to new hot bars and restaurants off of Main is excellent. So, come and visit Main Street and see why we love it!

Cincinnati Art Underground is consistently bringing in top artist and hosting art talks and opening parties.
Good love the friendly bartenders at Liberty’s!
Our favorite watering hole at AYI! Liberty’s Bar and Bottle.
Can’t wait for them to open! Fun for kids AND adults!
Check out this amazing mid-century console with twig style lamp in the window at Amy Youngblood Interiors. For sale!
We get more compliments on the funky egg chair. Come buy it!
Love the Woodward Theatre.

Army Green: Why you should add it to your wardrobe!

This cape style trench from Veronica Beard softens the look, while still maintaining the classic button down pockets.
I’m in love with this jacket, also from Veronica Beard! The lace detailing and black piping are hip and add interest.

Looking for a great spring trench coat with the warmer weather? While classic tan is the most common trench color,  why not mix it up with an army style green trench.  In fact,  these coats don’t have to look like you just got off the combat field,  but can add some eclectic style to your wardrobe.  The utilitarian coat is here to stay: Check out these fun versions of army green!

Clash or Creativity?

So, I’m a bit torn over this issue.  While on my latest airline flight, I perused the latest fashion magazines,  and all the haute couture looks are a crazy mix of patterns and textures.  From striped shirts, to ruffled skirts mixed with studded heels,  it feels a bit like the “Clash of the Titans” to me.  I suppose this Cincinnista was always schooled in the the theory that if your top is complex, go with a more simplified baseline, or visa versa.  So what do we choose?  It seems to me that going with one or two focal points on your  outfit should suffice and let the rest follow.  Kind of like deciding between bold earrings or a bold necklace.  Can’t do both.  Check out these looks…hmmmm….might be fun on the runway, but to work?  Really?

I love Gucci, but I don’t think the pirate hat would work for me:)
Too much going on here!

Again, just the busyness of this outfit is too much. They would look great separately…but together?

You Can Ring My Bell (Sleeves)!

Only us “40 plus Cincinnista’s  actually remember this famous song,  but in case you don’t:  here is the point:  Bell Style sleeves are “way in” this season.  Whether it’s short sleeved or long,  top or dress, bell sleeves are stylish and flattering.  Flattering I say?  Yes!  Kind of like how bell bottom jeans elongate and thin the thigh, bell sleeves do the same for your arms.  And who doesn’t need a little help in that area these days?!

Check out these examples:

Love these bell sleeves on yes, a striped top. Another look totally in this season. The black and white combo is also a classic.
Can’t go wrong with this off-the-shoulder black bell sleeved top by Milly.

Love this knitted cold shoulder dress by Shoshanna. Not to mention the deep pink color is perfect for Spring!

A Successful Appearance on Fox Channel 19!

As my blog Cincinnista continues to grow, I think that the highlight of the last year and a half, was our segment and fashion show on Fox Channel 19 this morning.

After appearing on Fox 19 twice now as an Interior Design Consultant, this was a new experience for me (Cincinnista.)  My mission was to discuss and display Fashion Trends for 2017.  The result was a great success!

With the collaboration of one of the best boutiques in Cincinnati,  The Co-Op on Camargo, as well as our three beautiful models,  here is a re-cap of what’s Hot for 2017:

-Cold shoulder and off-the-shoulder tops and dresses:   all the rage right now….another carry over from 2016.

-Embroidered and lace tops and dresses; this feminine and detailed look provides a great pop with simple denim and solid fabrics.

-Wide leg pants:  Not only are they stylish, they are comfortable and flattering especially on a taller silloutte. Not tall?  If your waist can handle it,  pair those high waister trousers with a shorter fitted top to elongate your legs…without showing your belly…remember Cincinnista’s are all about class!

-Stripes are in!  No, not your father’s pin striped button down, but stripes in unique repeats and angles such as flared sleeves and alternating lengths.  Very fun!

-Booties of all types: Check out Vinni’s “sock booties” that are a hybrid of short booties and tall boots,  and comfortable yet stylish at the same time.

In short, 2017 has a lot to be excited about….especially with fashion!  Stay tuned and check out our looks….
