Co-Op & Friends End of Season Sale!

So fellow Cincinnista’s,  I last wrote about what trending for 2018,  but let’s face it,  it’s cold out there baby and it’s time for some great deals on winter clothing, shoes and accessories!

My favorite sale in Cincinnati is always put on by the Co-Op & Friends, conveniently located on Camargo Road in Madiera.  Cincinnista is excited to be an official promoter of this event, so here are the details of this end of season sale!

The sale begins on Thursday, February 1st (5-8pm) and continues through Saturday February 3rd.  There will be dramatic reductions on “fashion forward” merchandise from clothing,  to shoes, jewelry, and accessories. In addition, esthetician Shawna Renay will be offering brow waxing and lash services on Thursday evening and Friday afternoon.  My favorite part of the sale is the Opening Thursday night consisting of  wine tasting and yummy lite bites to enjoy while shopping with my favorite Cincinnista’s!

To top it off, a $5 donation at the door as well as a percentage of sales, will go to the always charitable Karen Wellington Foundation.

Check out the attached flyer and see you there!

Happy New Year! What’s in for 2018

So fellow Cincinnista’s, I’ve blogged and and even been featured on TV about what’s hot in Interior Design for 2018, but now let’s talk about personal style and fashion.  It’s always true that what is trending in interior design and overall design transcends itself in to fashion and visa versa.

After much research here are my top 7 trends for 2018!

-Shine and gloss:  From metallics to now actual yes,  vinyl, glossy pants and tops, anything shimmery (well almost) is in.  Just make sure to not let your entire outfit be a reflective sign and mix and match the wow pieces with the  more subdued.

-Mixed prints.  Again,  we want to be careful of not becoming a fashion “mine field” , but the juxtaposition of different prints is very current. Don’t be afraid to mix those plaid jeans with an embroidered top for example if the colors work together.

-Fringe:  While I’m a bit of a bohemian haute couture dresser myself on my casual days,  fringe is still in!  From sweaters to handbags, the 70’s are still with us. Just a little moderation ladies!

-Nineties Influences:  Ugh sorry ladies,  I’m not advocating Alexa Carrington’s oversized should pads, but the windbreaker and “bomber style” jackets have come back but in a with more sophisticated and interesting materials.

-Haute Demin: While demin will never go out of style,  it’s time to leave your Levi’s and get more creative.  Many of us older Cincinnistas aren’t into the distressed, holely look but what about zippers and contrasting panels of focus?  Sounds kind of fun to me!

-Utilitarian and Camo style clothing.  While I still treasure the army green and lace Veronica Beard jacket I got on big time sale this summer,  this look isn’t going away.  Camo themed sweaters to pants with utilitarian outside military pockets are all over the run ways for the spring.

So cheers and Happy New Year and check out some of these looks!

These glossy polyertherline pants by RtA will the make the simplist outfit poop.

I’ve been fighting polka dots for years, but this mixed print polka dot versa dress for DVF is a wow statement.
Not cheap at retail, but the Balmain all wool sweater on sale is both chic and Bohemian!
Always love how Rag and Bone takes a creative trend on fashion. This  bomber style jacket has mix or satin and woven cotton/poly arm sleeves.
Balmain again. Love the mix or zippers and more detailed paneled leg areas!
Rich, saturated colors are shown through this edgy, metallic and animal print dress by Veronica Beard.
Did I say camo was in!? Love this fun, yet comfy pants but Kendall and Kylie.

Some of My Favorite Things!

Okay,  so I know I’m not Oprah and the whole word isn’t hanging on every word I say, but with a crazy month of November behind me, this Cincinnista is ready to shop for my family, friends and of course, myself.  I know,  sounds selfish right?  But with the deals?  Come on!

Now a couple of these items I’ve purchased,  but of course not all.  I mean,  even a Cincinnista can’t afford them all.  But here is a mix of some of my favorite clothing pieces and accessories this winter season:

Studded leather biker jacket by Balmain. What a statement piece! Of course, it’s on sale right now but still waiting for the sale price to go down!
Striped, retro-style ruffle dress by Nicole Miller. And yes, I bought this for the holiday season. With heels or tennis shoes (not that I’m a big sneakers girl:), looks stylish. And yes, the open keyhole front makes it a touch sexy.
Whether or not you are anti-fur or not, all types of fur is in this season. The glam, yet warmth of this paneled DVF fur jacket is perfect for the holidays and looks great with jeans to a little black dress.
Ok, like I need another handbag, but I love the unique yet practical style of this Prada piece. The contrast between the gray leather and diagonal black sticking I find truly striking.
I know I’ve talked about plaid, but here’s another fav. This Veronica Beard dress is casual yet sophisticated. Love it with the black booties!
Another Veronica Beard favorite. The gold buttons add tons of interest to this cozy, spruce colored wool sweater.
Yes, I’m guilty of buying this too. You can’t beat a classic black jumpsuit, especially during the holidays. This DVF piece is simple, yet sexy and can be dressed up with fun dramatic jewelry.
It’s not secret that I’m a big fan of See by Chloe. The brand is both stylish, yet comfy and at a fraction of the price of regular Chloe. These platform booties are distinguished with the signature Chloe scalloping around the perimeter!

The Power of Plaid!

Ok Cincinnista’s, plaid is no longer reserved for your classic Burberry scarf or rain boots.  As I mentioned in a previous post, plaid is in style in an an even bigger way.  I must admit, that after my Rag and Bone black and red plaid twill leggings finally gave way last weekend (which by the way I thought was pretty fashion forward when I bought then 3 years ago:), I’ve been on a quest to replace them.  After much research, I’ve found that most top clothing lines are offering anything from neutral plaids, to bright and bold options.  From jackets, to shirts, to pants,  plaid is a classic piece that when mixed with cutting edge boots and accessories is a necessity to any Cincinnista’s wardrobe.

Here are some of my fav’s:

I first saw this pair in November’s Instyle Magazine and was in love. Unfortunately, they were so hot that my the time I went to buy them, my size was sold out! Sorry, size 24 just doesn’t work anymore!
If your budget affords, this beautiful forest green version by Burberry is subtle and goes with a ton. Unfortunately for me as well, they are not available for almost 3 months!
Love this equestrian style jacket by Theory which is perfect for a neutral palette. Just FYI order at least a size up as the jacket is extremely fitted.
So I did order this oversized blazer by Rachel Antonoff. I love the boldness or that plaid which lends it’s self to a more modern look. Great pair with a pair of black leather leggings!

Creativity and Cocktails: A fun and great cause at Amy Youngblood Interiors!

While most of you Cincinnista’s have probably heard,  we are hosting an amazing event this Friday, October 6th at 6:30!  We are partnering with a local OTR charity called Indigo Hippo to raise money and/or collect gently used art and craft supplies.    Indigo Hippo is an art thrift store located on Main Street, which sells gently used art and craft supplies to those who could not normally afford it, supporting creativity in Cincinnati.  The store is filled with an amazing array of affordable finds:  from colored pencils,  to vintage finials, to pine cones.  Nothing is off limits in this creative haven!

For the event on Friday night we ask that you bring any type of art, office or craft supply. Be creative!  Not feeling creative?  A $5 donation is suggested.

In addition we will be serving wine from the Wine Merchant as well as other  beverages and yummy lite bites from Che, also located in OTR.

So please join us for an evening for a great cause and fun!

The Lure of Red Velvet

Well, it’s not just any velvet that’s in this season!   On a recently trip to Saks, I was amazed by the amount of various red velvet jeans and jackets.   And to be more specific, it’s more like dark red or wine colored velvet.

Here are some reasons I love this look (at least in jeans):

-It’s a great neutral for the season.  Deep red goes with blue, black and a myriad of neutrals.

-It’s rich and cozy looking.  I mean who doesn’t love the feel and softness of this material?

-The dark red is flattering on most figures.  In lieu of “louder” patterned jeans,  if you aren’t a size 2, this dark color helps out the most fullest of figures.

-It’s the perfect pant for work.  I know as I designer,  I feel the need to dress up for work most days and regular jeans are a little too casual.  Velvet jeans are comfortable and casual, yet still stylish and upscale looking.

Here are a few examples of my fav’s”

Love these low rise wine velvet jeans by Rag and Bone.
I just bought these mid-rise jeans by Paige. Love the depth and shine of this velvet.
Another winner by Paige. This simple jacket is a step up from a traditional jean jacket.
Thes ballerina flats by Prada make me think of cozy slippers but are perfect for a day out on the town!
